Most businesses want “more traffic”. But if your site converts 1% of visitors, doubling traffic is expensive, whereas going from 1% to 2% conversion doubles results without spending another dirham on acquisition. That’s the whole point of CRO, conversion rate optimization, often the most profitable and most overlooked digital lever in Morocco.
What is conversion rate?
It’s the share of visitors who complete the target action: purchase, quote request, booking, sign-up. CRO is about raising that percentage by removing the friction that stops your visitors from acting. You work on the traffic you already pay for (SEO, Google Ads, social) to extract more value from it.
Why CRO is so profitable
Imagine 10,000 visitors a month and an average order of 1,000 MAD. At 1% conversion, that’s 100,000 MAD. Moving to 2% is 200,000 MAD, on the same acquisition budget. Every conversion improvement multiplies the return on all your other digital investments. That’s why CRO should come before, or alongside, a rise in ad spend.
Concrete CRO levers
- Message clarity: within seconds, the visitor must understand what you offer and why you.
- Calls to action: visible, explicit, benefit-led (“Request a free quote” rather than “Submit”).
- Reducing friction: short forms, a purchase path with no needless step, smooth payment.
- Social proof: reviews, client logos, case studies, numbers. In Morocco, trust is decisive.
- Speed and mobile: a slow page, or one that displays poorly on smartphone, kills conversion, where most traffic is.
- Visual hierarchy: guide the eye toward the action, don’t drown it in options.
The method: measure, hypothesise, test
CRO isn’t a matter of opinion but of data:
- Measure: analytics, heatmaps, session recordings to spot where visitors drop off.
- Form hypotheses: “if we simplify this form, more people will complete it”.
- Test: A/B testing when volume allows, or iterative improvement otherwise.
- Measure the impact and keep what works.
It’s a continuous cycle, not a one-off action.
CRO and SEO/Ads: the winning trio
SEO and Google Ads bring traffic; CRO turns it into customers. Investing in acquisition without optimising conversion is filling a leaking bucket. The three work together: more qualified traffic, better converted, for a lower cost per acquired customer.
